Loved it!It was a free pick from Amazon First Reads last month。 I loved the humor throughout the book。 Flowed well throughout too。 I would definitely read another one by Sara Goodman Confino。
Melissa Keith,
Loved Loved Loved Evelyn is such a sassy character, loved the going back in time then back to present to really bring the whole story together。 Timeless love stories past & present!
Emily Short,

Tracey,
Unexpectedly Fun ReadThis story is part historical fiction and part a chick read。 The romance is just right and not over the top 。 It is told in alternating chapters between the past and present。 The main characters are a granddaughter and her grandma both getting to know each other in a trip。 I loved both characters and the wonderful family history。
Sara,
Enjoyable chick lit and good choice for a summer beach read。 But seriously, life is short, can't people just marry who they love without family interference?? Fun readHard to put down。 Wish i had a granny like this or was a granny like Evelyn。 Ever wonder what you don't know about family? Maybe we should ask more questions so we understand where we come from and what motivates actions we don't understand。 Sit back and enjoy every page if you need to laugh and cry。 Fun readHard to put down。 Wish i had a granny like this or was a granny like Evelyn。 Ever wonder what you don't know about family? Adriane,
Good summer readOverall, I enjoyed the book。 It was a little hard to get into but it piqued my curiosity so kept at it。 I found it a little hard to follow along as to what character was talking when。 But for a summer read I can say it was a good quick read。
Anne Bostwick,
such a good story! This was a sweet story, with plenty of surprises, about families, forbidden love, forgiveness, and the fact that we never really know our parents and grandparents。
Jill L。,
But is she REALLY up to no good??? Or just。。。 Herself? No matter what you think you know, there's always more to the story of the remarkable heroine of this book! Amazing, exhilarating, inspiring and all together engrossing - truly one of my all time favorite books and a new favorite author。Whatever else you think you need to do today, just stop and read this book now! Grace,
I loved this heartwarming story of love, loss, family, and the sweet sense of being in your hometown。 Two journeys in two different time periods of a grandmother and granddaughter that overlap and intertwine as they travel to the special childhood home and location of her first, and maybe greatest love。 This story kept me on the edge of my seat- wanting more details of each journey。 An emotional climax broke my heart but gave me so much more understanding of all the characters and how they relat I loved this heartwarming story of love, loss, family, and the sweet sense of being in your hometown。 Two journeys in two different time periods of a grandmother and granddaughter that overlap and intertwine as they travel to the special childhood home and location of her first, and maybe greatest love。 This story kept me on the edge of my seat- wanting more details of each journey。 An emotional climax broke my heart but gave me so much more understanding of all the characters and how they relate。 A youthful writing style made it easy to read- but wanting a little more。 。。。more

Theresa,
Great summer read This book made me laugh out loud so many times, but it also brought tears to my eyes and nostalgic for a place I’ve never been - A perfect story, imho
Kathy Schouten,
A fun read about an almost divorced mid thirties woman and her grandmother。 After a road trip back to her hometown, Jenna’s grandmother shared her stories of her childhood and lost love and Jenna finds reasons to believe in love again。
L,
so good
Christy Taylor,
Jenna and Evelyn are both wonderful characters and I loved their connection。 Evelyn’s spunk and determination remind me so much of my own grandmother who turned 96 last weekend。 I could clearly picture their trip to Evelyn’s beloved hometown and I’m laughing now as think back on their entertaining journey together。 There is so much to love about this story - - family traditions & dynamics, the charming seaside town, an adorable canine character plus new beginnings and second chances。 I really Jenna and Evelyn are both wonderful characters and I loved their connection。 Evelyn’s spunk and determination remind me so much of my own grandmother who turned 96 last weekend。 I could clearly picture their trip to Evelyn’s beloved hometown and I’m laughing now as think back on their entertaining journey together。 There is so much to love about this story - - family traditions & dynamics, the charming seaside town, an adorable canine character plus new beginnings and second chances。 I really enjoyed this delightful book。 。。。more
Jocelyn Bennion,
4。5 Evelyn is pure confidence and sass, she is amazing。 Loved Jenna and this whole story。 Loved the understanding that comes with time and how things work out。 I started reading it but ended up listening because I liked hearing the accents。
Dorothy,
Well, that was fun! Beachy, predictable, and yet, fun。
Sarah Wolfe,
Thoroughly enjoyed this sweet story。 The grandmother/grand daughter relationship and timelines were funny and heart warming。 I loved how all of the details about the characters and families unfolded。 Well done!
Joanne,
Well, the timing of me reading this book is certainly suspicious。 But since I didn’t actually know what it was about, I’ll chalk it up to synchronicity。 Oh how I loved Evelyn and Jenna but especially Evelyn。
Jen Fischer,
Quick, enjoyable, beach read。 Nothing to think about or process, just a cute story about love。 Nothing so serious as the Amazon description made it out to be。 But I enjoyed it and finished the book two days。
Stacy,
What an awesome book。 I literally fell in love with the characters, and am especially obsessed with Ellen Bergman。 What I wouldn’t do to have just an ounce of her chutzpah! This story was the story of two women, decades apart, who both had stories of love and loss that shaped their lives。 I loved the way Evelyn shared her story with Jenna bit by bit, and how Evelyn’s story shaped Jenna’s。 It was just so good, so engaging, and definitely touched my heart。
Cait,
started off a little depressing with her 6 year marriage falling apart but i quickly fell in love with this book as I continued reading。 By page 18, I was already laughing out loud (which is pretty rare with books)。 I adore the fact that it would be one chapter as her grandma's love story when she was younger and the next chapter would be real-time, so on and so forth, switching between both times/stories but with a parallel link。 started off a little depressing with her 6 year marriage falling apart but i quickly fell in love with this book as I continued reading。 By page 18, I was already laughing out loud (which is pretty rare with books)。 I adore the fact that it would be one chapter as her grandma's love story when she was younger and the next chapter would be real-time, so on and so forth, switching between both times/stories but with a parallel link。 。。。more
Trish,
She's Up to No Good is the story of Jenna, who is unhappily divorced and living back at home with her parents (in her 30's) when she is talked into a road trip with her 89 year old grandmother Evelyn。 That is when the adventure begins! Jenna learns how to embrace life and take chances from the adventurous Evelyn。I wanted to read this novel because it looked like a fun summer read。 I like the second chances theme, and also liked the idea of two generations interacting。This book was great fun! Evelyn is like all the Golden Girls rolled into one - she is a hoot! The book is told largely in flashbacks of her earlier life in the 1950's, when she was a young woman from a proper Jewish family, but she found love with a Portuguese man that her parents didn't approve of。 Their love story and her choices changed her whole life。I enjoyed this novel and would recommend it for anyone looking for a summer read (or weekend read)。 The dual storylines (1950's and present day) were both really interesting, with two strong, likable protagonists。 。。。more

Jeanie,
An absolutely delightful read! I didn’t want it to end! How I would love to take a trip with Grandma Evelyn!
The Vegan Tester,
Lovely lighthearted escapismJust what I needed after getting fully caught up with climate anxiety。 A wonderful tale of two timelines which made me both laugh and cry。 I just wish the vivacious force of nature Evelyn were real and I could have met her!
Kate,
This book started off strong and quickly took a running, jumping dive into one star territory。- No one in this book can answer a single question。 It isn’t cute or suspenseful, it is just dumb- The characters are so cardboard it’s hard to even remember their names- Jenna has the maturity level of a 12 year old and as much personality as a wet towel- Evelyn is a manipulative liar who uses people her entire life - Joe is so boring and underdeveloped there is not even a way to describe him - The who This book started off strong and quickly took a running, jumping dive into one star territory。- No one in this book can answer a single question。 It isn’t cute or suspenseful, it is just dumb- The characters are so cardboard it’s hard to even remember their names- Jenna has the maturity level of a 12 year old and as much personality as a wet towel- Evelyn is a manipulative liar who uses people her entire life - Joe is so boring and underdeveloped there is not even a way to describe him - The whole book felt like an amateurish re-telling of West Side Story where both characters live and don’t end up together - This book uses “What?” as a narrative device about 20x more than should be legal- It is way, way, way too long 。。。more
